Stalin sees victory in near future

London, England (UP) –
Premier Joseph Stalin, in a message to President Roosevelt, has expressed confidence that the combined forces of the United States, Great Britain and Soviet Russia will defeat the Axis “in the near future,” the Moscow radio said last night.

The message, in reply to a recent one by the President, said:

Franklin Roosevelt, Commander-in-Chief of the United States Armed Forces, White House, Washington:
I thank you for the congratulations in connection with the victory of Soviet troops at Stalingrad.

I express confidence that the joint fighting operations of the Armed Forces of the United States, Great Britain and the Soviet Union will in the near future lead to victory over our common enemy.
