Hey everybody. I’ve been a fan of the TimeGhost content for a long while now, but I only joined the TGA last week. Feels good to be here and to support the production of quality history content!

I was wondering whether there is a TGA Discord server. On the TimeGhost Patreon page, I saw an option to connect the Discord App with Patreon and a server being mentioned, but no invite to it.

My dearest friends and fellow brothers and sisters in arms of unraveling the possible truths, who we so desperately need to try to understand: the most shocking and lethal conflict in all of human history! Subscribing to this wonderful bunch of fellow historians greetings to you all!:hugs:
May I just say I really appreciate your programs.
Within a short amount of time I decided to become more involved, very much because of a number of fellow members who are active and involved on this great forum!
I really feel I became part of a family that not only cares about the issues at hand but also about each other, with mutual respect.
My best wishes to you all and thanks again for giving me the opportunity to discuss my own ideas here!
Greetings from the Netherlands

Yeah, I also went to Duxford for a training escort flight of the Dakota’s, then straight to Normandy at night via the Ferry to see the paratroopers jump. It was fun to see but incredibly busy, luckily there were some smaller volunteer events without the bigwigs of Bobos in Dutch

By the way there is a live Stream by Joelle Stoppels, a great tourguide I consider a friend. We just missed each other in Sannerville as he was blocked by traffic but I ran into a Canadian friend and a US Lt.Col who was doing the luxbus Ambrose tour :-). Luckily I brought enough Airborne beer:

Anyway livestream for free at 1900 CET that is Zulu+1 (or Greenwhich Meantime +1 )

Hey there Sparty,
This may seem like a bit of random question, but do you know if Nick Hodges from History Buffs is okay?
He hasn’t posted since last October so I was just wondering.
Danke schone from the wee County in Ireland.

I have seen photos and film of Hitler and Mussolini talking together without interpreters. Does anyone know which language(s) they used?

Probably Klingon or diabolical devilishly Italygermanologic newspeak
In ernest, Ill Duce spoke a bit of German but don’t be fooled by those propaganda films. Translaters often were hidden behind curtains so it would seem they were talking eye to eye

Hello all, I am a devoted student of WWII and the time period between the Versailles Treaty through the 2nd World War. It’s quite something how many people these days don’t know the significance of those years affects on our world today. Especially the 2nd World War. I hope to teach about WWII and maybe the 20th century in high school or College one day. I am late to the Timeghost party, having just really found you guys spring of 2020 but I entirely caught up with the WW2 timeline several months ago. I only wish my wonderful late Father could have enjoyed this too. He taught history at Rutgers University for decades and we would have enjoyed this series together and had many discussions on the topics I’m sure. I treasure it even moreso knowing the value of history and learning from it he instilled in me. I look forward to contributing and being an active part of the TGA.

Hi Josheph,

A very great welcome to the forum

Hey the 20th centry is taught in high school these days? ;-). I am getting old. I agree it is important to remind history. I am looking forward to your posts.

Well, it is. Unfortunately, most of the time, it’s not taught properly.

Good point, I think I mention before that we “a bit older people” had to explain to students adn now probably teachers that the cold war was not a “Stable Period with just 2 superpowers”. It had a lot of incredibly frustrating wars and fears of being nuked and when Reagan called fo the wall to come down and earlier helping the Polish resistance he was met with derision. There also were mass demonstrations etcetera and the Young Ones are a good example of the youth groups who hated each other (except for Neil as overaged hippies are cool). The main problem is the trap of reasoning backwards instead of really appreciating the gargantuan problems and complexity of the times. Also I think one problem with many historians is that they do a lot of "handing report cards out to decision makers without actually learning to make decisions or appreciating the issues.

E.g. It is very easy to say that Market Garden was doomed to fail but after the collapse of 1918 no one expected the Germans to fight all the way into Berlin still believing in victory. The 2 SS divisions were the remnants of defeated divisions in Normandy. On the East bagration led to the complete collaps of Army group center and the Stauffenberg made one of many attempts to kill Hitler. And oh yes the pecursor Comet was cancelled which doesn’t fit the narritive of stupidy, + the British armor wasn’t drinking tea but trying to keep the supply line open in the “Mook counteratttack”.

I know it makes for a more readable narrative to see all this experienced high ranking people failing from the get go to a future of which the reader already knows. It sells well but is not good history.

What I like with my old Uni is that we actually did get these “It is early 1943 and you are an advisor to Hitler, what will you do” (and throwing gasoline on him with matches were not acceptable :smiling_imp:) But even then there is the hindsight thing. (there were other assignment as well including Batlefront games to understand WW2 tech by applying the best commercial sim at the time). It also helped that a lot of fellow students were military and actually used to dealing with uncertainty…

Hello there, great job
Recently I have read some study about allies material help to USSR. I mean not just war materials, but stuff like dress, medical tools, canned food and all kind of everyday necessities. It claimed that if it wouldn´t be a British help, especially in the first months of the offensive and US afterwards, the Soviets would literally starve to death in year 1942 and thereafter.
Enjoy your show

Welcome to the forum! Hope to hear from you a lot. The Allies did provide a lot of food aid to Russia. I wouldn’t say we were the reason they didn’t starve as that is a bit melodramatic but sure helped to have the extra food when many of your farms are in German hands and many of the farmers are driving tanks.

I have finally joined the TGA.

One starting question. What is the best way to put forward a suggestion of a possible place to visit on a future tour? Fully understand that it might not be possible but wanted to make the team aware of the possibility.
