Hi Keegan, a very heartfelt welcome to the forum. Should you have any questions please let me know. We always appreciate extra input and your views as it enriches the forum. So feel welcome to join the discussions
Hopefully there will be some meet-ups next year (no one is sure yet).
Thanks Chewie! Happy to be apart of the army and to donate to such a great cause. I have always been a big WW2 and history fan, this is by far the best documentary or series on the subject. Looking forward to helping as much as I can (if at all).
Hi Keegan Welcome Where are You from and do you have some special interest? My own in Pacific warfare, especially Guadalcanal.
So just read, ask and tell us what is on your mind
Hi Finn, great name BTW that’s my sons name haha. I am a big fan of the Pacific campaign in general as well as air operations over Europe, especially between 1940-1944. Honestly I love it all. Been a big fan of WW2 history since I was a kid. Had a book when I was a kid, WW2 day by day so when I found this series I was so stoked. Seems like a great community and can’t wait for what’s in store the next few years!
i’m honored Not many babys here in Denmark are named Finn nowadays. I always try to hit memorial days. I was in Pearl Harbor on dec 7 2001 and on Guadalcanal on Aug 7 2012. Nothing like hear the story from the veterans themselves. I 2001 there were a lot of both US and Japanese veterans.
Denmark? I really want to go there. Im the US but my wife is Irish so I’ve been to the UK, Netherlands and France. We go to Europe about every 2 years to see her family. Really
would love to go to Denmark, Sweden, Norway the next time we go over there. I have been to the Pearl Harbour memorial but would love to go to Normandy and Berlin. Good idea to go on specific days too, the stories the vets have are incredible. Truly amazing what these young men and teenagers were able to achieve.
When travel is free again, I hope we can set up some tours in this forum and we can each be the guide in our local story. Close to me we have great WW1 stuff: a Zeppelin base, as the southern part of Denmark was German under WW1, we have a museum and a memorial park for the battle of Jutland. From WW2 a lot of the Atlantic wall. I would love to be your host
That’s a great idea and I would love to do that. I love in Southern California, we have the Midway aircraft carrier in San Diego. It’s a WW2 carrier with tons of planes, etc on it and you can walk all around the carrier as well as the flight deck. If you’re ever out here it’s a great place to go to.
Long time viewer, finally made the step to join the TGA.
Thanks for years of quality content and looking forward to seeing much more, now from a little closer by.
Chewie! Love the production, deliveries, research quality, and all the other behind the scenes work!
I have a “gift” idea for Indy, but could use a little graphics help. Can you put me in touch with anyone on the team? I was in the USAF and now work with NATO in The Netherlands. Would be happy to provide my contact info.
My name is Mauricio and I´m very glad of joining TGA after seeing all episodes of all series in YouTube. I though it was about time to suscribe and retribute in some modest way all the great work you all have done so far. I really like the way you keep History alive, with a great sense of humor, but still very rigorous and impartial. All my gratitude and keep it up guys!!.
Hi Mauricio, a very heartfelt welcome to the TG Army. Let me/ us should you have any question and we really appreciate any input you have about your interest / family history or anything you want to contribute.
May I call you Chewie? (Always wanted to ask this). I’m from Chile, and beside History i like astronomy an travelling. I’ve been in interesting places like Playa Girón (where i saw for my first time a T-34 ) and Stalingrad. I have an interesting original picture book of Adolf Hitler from 1936, i dont know if you already have these material, id like to send some images…
Cool yeah call me Chewie (actually Marc but there are always too many of them ) In World of Warplanes I fly as ChewieTimeghost and have a perfect score. Probably because my opponents rather have their arms still in they sockets
As for astronomy I always wanted to go to Chile/Patagonia because it has the best stargazing on the planet. Do you know the podcast Star Talk from Neill De Grasse Tyson. I am a big fan of him. Is your astronomy hobby or do you also work in it. My old University has a space program but I did history. If I have time I might add space studies at some point in time.
As for posting please do, Glad we have you onboard our forum. If you want to share any Chilean history or anything it is always appreciated.
And wookies make great friend This is my flying shirt
I love San Diego and the SouthWest in general to travel. The Midway is still on my list. I have been to Fort Macarthur and stayed on the Queen Mary in 2019 which sadly closed now. It has a historical display and lot of picture from the old days and the cabins are REALLY cool! Then there are museums, Air and Space Museum with the Space Shuttle, Yankee Air Museum, Chino Air Museum, La Brea tar pits, Museum of Tolerance (Simon Wiesenthal Centre) etc. Also there is a really good helicopter school in Long Beach were I spent an hour on a Cabri, the airspace is complex but great views!
My favorite flight school is the Jet Warbird school a bit further East in Santa Fe New Mexico. When I can travel again I will go there. (I was there in early Feb 2020, and got just out of the US in time)
Guten Tag,
I was the last Jew.
Gerhard
I checked out Star Talk and its super cool!!. I´ve seen before De Grasse tv shows but the podcast and youtube sites are very good. In the North of Chile are the main Observatories a radiotelescopes, because humidity and atmosferic conditions are almost perfect, also there are optic observatory sites (40 cms. newtonian telescopes) where you can see all Messier objects, a very good experience. Something cool here in south hemisfere, is that we are facing the center of via lactea, and that is amazing to watch. Patagonia is also great, but more for watching the Aurora australis. Astronomy is my hobbie (work in finances).
I never tried world of warplanes… i´ll try to fly there, it´s been a while since the last time i used my hotas warthog, don’t expect to much if you accept to be my wingman, haha.
