I thought it might be usefull to keep track of the best archives and websites for image and videoresearch.

Our main source for archival video is the Reuters Screenocean Archive, -> https://reuters.screenocean.com/. You can search per newsagency, topic or timeperiod (and find for example this report on the Winter War). Besides helping us tremendously, its really fun to look through the old archival material.

A Second source is the Jeff Quitney YouTube Channel. Harder to search, but they have great archival material as well. Check it out here -> https://www.youtube.com/user/webdev17.
Please post the URL to the video, and the TImeframe (for example 0:53-1:11). Try to be as specific as possible – as you know from watching the show, we can’t use minute long fragments.

Note: Please check the licensing situation for every website/document.
- Wikimedia Commons Great for initial research. Easier to find but sometimes still well hidden. Check Wikipedia Pages in foreign languages too.
- Imperial War Museum - Not everything has the right license for us. Be carefull.
- Finnish Defence Forces Archive - Everything is in the public domain. Great source for the Winter War and future conflicts in Finland. (This site offers the same pictures with a more user-friendly interface and more metadata)
- Wikimedia collection of all the Imperial War Museums photo’s! Hard to navigate but totally worth it!
- Wikimedia collection of photo’s of industrial production during WW2
- Calvin College German Propaganda archive, including posters, portraits and photos.
