Three officers and 104 enlisted men of the 200th Coast Artillery were evacuated from Bataan and are now at Corregidor. All other members of these National Guard organizations are believed to be in the hands of the enemy.

There is nothing to report from other areas.

Army Communiqué No. 204

Philippine theater.
Enemy attacks on our island forts during April 21 were limited to a few dive bomber raids on Forts Hughes and Drum.

In Panay, enemy troops from San Jose are attacking our positions near San Remigio and Valderrama in Antique Province. Repeated enemy attacks in overwhelming numbers forced our troops to withdraw from Lambunao.

Reports from Negros indicate that the enemy is making an air reconnaissance of that island.

There is nothing to report from other areas.

U.S. Armed Forces now fight in India

New Delhi, April 22 (UP) –
United States Armed Forces are in India and “more are coming,” Col. Louis A. Johnson, President’s envoy to India, said today.

American Air Force men and Flying Fortresses have been fighting out of India, and it was not clear whether Col. Johnson referred to them or was indicating that infantry had also arrived.

Col. Johnson said that the United States was giving much war equipment to India and appealed to the Indians to aid in defeating “our common enemy.”

He said:

This is a world war, not a European war with an Asiatic sideshow.
