Willkie Not Interested In Coughlin’s Support
New York, Aug. 27 (AP) –

Wendell L. Willkie said today he did not want the support of the Rev. Charles E. Coughlin if he understood correctly that the radio priest is opposed “to certain people in this country because of their race or religion.”

The Republican presidential nominee was asked at a press conference whether he had any comment on an editorial in the publication, Social Justice, founded by Father Coughlin, calling his acceptance speech a “much-needed call to American nationalism.”
