Why was Taiwan never invaded by the Allies?

Why was Taiwan never invaded by the Allies? Wouldn’t a large Japanese colony between the Philippines and the home islands have presented an obstacle for the Allied invasion fleets?

Love the show, thank you all for your hard work.

I think there were plans to either invade the Philippines or Formosa (Taiwan) but MacArthur won his plan to liberate the Philippines

Look at the map, Taiwan is way out of the Marianas - Japan axis. Between the submarine campaign and the taking of Okinawa, Taiwan, by the time an invasion of Japan was on the cards, was a de facto POW camp.
