Hello, it’s a part of the war I didn’t knew and jus learned about with the last episode. I wonder why they decided to evacuate it.

My immediate guess — not based on research — is that the cost to defend the island far exceeded the benefit to the Axis. Getting Hitler to agree to any concession of territory was difficult for his generals, but as far as I know, he had no strong objections to German troops evacuating from Sardinia in the face of probable overwhelming allied force.
