Why didn’t smaller countries take advantage of the global turmoil and invade other states, like the Peruvian-Ecuador war? Or atleast support Separatist Movements in other countries to drag them into the conflict

I was thinking WW2 but I also think the point still stands with WW1, even if the answer to that is more obvious

Are you thinking about the whole world or just Europe?

I don’t know if is an answer; but on Argentina there was a coup on 1943 and one of the quoted reasons was the government position on the war (Ally or Neutral).
