Came across a unit called the Composite Army-Marine Division, which was formed because malaria and the Japanese had gutted the ranks of soldiers and Marines. They had two Army infantry regiments, the 6th Marines, and artillery units from 2nd Marine Division and the Americal Division. I’ve been all over looking to find who led the unit and have come up empty. Can’t find any organizational tables for XIV Corps, but I do know that the CAM Division was activated on this day in 1943.
Anyone know anything?
