Having watched this series in order, and seeing the gradual escalation of the war, when exactly did we (I.e., newspapers and radio) start calling this the Second World War? And I imagine whenever it was, it coincided with us changing from “The Great War” to “The First World War?” Is there a specific date or headline or speech that historians agree upon?
Welcome Barney. This article gives a clue https://www.history.com/news/were-they-always-called-world-war-i-and-world-war-ii
Excellent! Thank you! Interesting how it was adopted at different times, and how none of the names anyone was pushing really stuck.
