What roll did Nisei solders play in the Pacific Theater?

Despite intense hatred and discrimination towards them about 33-35,000 Japanese soldiers served in WW2 primarily in the European theatre of war. I believe one regiment of Japanese Americans became the most decorated American unit in WW2. I believe about 700-1100 died during the war.

Although heavily mistrusted several hundred served in the pacific theatre as translators and other roles in intelligence.

While black servicemen were treated as second class citizens many American soldiers refused to fight alongside Japanese American units due to mistrust and prejudices of the time.
