There are many stories about modern bomb diffusal (with robots and such), but how did governments back in the 1940s diffuse unexploded bombs? I am assuming that there are many duds considering the amount of bombs dropped in the Battle of Britain and during the bombing campaigns by the allies against both Germany and Japan.
