Was the bombing campaign a success at the level of grand strategy?

TG has done an excellent job of explaining why the bombing campaign in Europe failed on multiple levels.Using hindsight, did it provide sufficient tangible benefits on the homefront and in alliance of convenience with the Soviet Union, or was there a practical replacement (including doing nothing) that would have worked better?

Well there are lots of quotes about the bomber campaign which are used by opponents of the Bombing Campaign and have declared it useless long time ago.

And yes the Allies should have escorted the bombers earlier on. However the had to learn in very very new tech . The Allies moreover started Green while the Germans had gained lots of experience by fighting for the Catholic Fascist Franco.

The main goal for the the USAF daylight raids was Air Superiority after the disaster in Dunkirk. The bomber streams brought out the fighters to be shot down. As the Allies had excellent planes like the Thunderbolts, great training Ad much better instrument which made surviving in clouds easer.

The Germans started losing more and more experienced pilots and a hard time training as the Allies started on Dooltles advise to leave the bombers and slaughter the ill trained German pilots when there was air supremacy.

Greggs Airplanes who like me flies WW2 Warbirds made excellent videos. He is also very critical of the late arrival of escorts and.

Note it are long videos but very good. It is just a more difficult than most expect
