Was Camp X really useful for this war or did it just lay down the basics for the cold war after?

I listened to a podcast of Cool Canadian History about Camp X. A secret spy training facility in Canada. He mostly talked about the canadian side of the story more then how those spys did in the real world other then their survival rate. So was the Camp really effective for this war or was it more of a precurser for cold war spying?
