This is specific to American historians. Why are so many uninformed about other allied nations?
I have been seeing a lot of American historians covering WW2 being shocked to hear that Canada was a major contributor to the European war effort and were even more shocked to learn that the Canadian military was the third largest allied force in the European theatre.
This goes on to the pacific theatre where Australians and New Zealanders made very significant contributions to the pacific theatre where they punched well above their weight and in many cases outshining both the Americans and British militaries.
It just boggles my mind that the many American historians believe the US won the war with some help from the British and are usually always shocked to find out American forces were not the greatest nor the best out there and usually at best mediocre in their doctrine.
