This is a WW1 topic

I know this may be hard to break down but does anyone know how many deaths there were each year? Even an average would be good.

This thought has been stuck in my head for days and I can’t find anything besides the war totals

First, it is important to remember that you will never find an exact number. Unknown/unreported deaths, inaccurate record keeping, and different methods of counting the dead have all contributed to different body counts depending on the sources you use.

Over a million soldiers were killed in 1914, when massed infantry and human wave attacks were still the norm in European military doctrine. However, this is the only body count by year I’m familiar with.
