Start of Operation Pearl Harbour (12-13/14-1942)

On December 13, 1942, the CASABIANCA submarine commanded by Corvette Captain Jean L’Herminier carried out the very first of its 7 special operations intended to prepare for the liberation of Corsica.

Having on board 4 agents and 5 tons of equipment embarked two days earlier in Algiers, the CASABIANCA initiate in the night of December 13 to 14, 1942, Operation Pearl Harbour. The officers disembarked at 12:30 a.m., and at 11 p.m. on the 15th, three members of the crew brought equipment, weapons and a radio. The 3 sailors set off again in their dinghy to return to the submarine, but capsized. They will have no choice but to stay with the agents and will be evacuated during another mission.
