Hi Indy and Crew (if this question gets answered),
It has been depicted in certain films and video games set during the Battle of Stalingrad that the Soviets would give a weapon to one soldier, but would only give the soldier behind them a few rounds of ammunition. To what extent is this true?
Well, a quick Google search shows that Russia drafted 29,574,900 men during WW2, but produced only 19.8 million rifles.
Like in “we were solidiers” Question to the staff seargent: dont you need a M-16?
ansewr, If I need a M-16 there will be plenty lying on the ground.
So there was clearly not a Russian rifle for everyone, so some kind of brutal supply chain logic - 2 man / 1 rifle, 15 rounds - must have been an issue that was thought about.
