As there isn’t an official discord, can I set up an informal/unofficial/unaffiliated one which really is for people from here to have running chats in? Nothing major just one channel called chat for people to connect and chat on in real time in a running text chat stream?
Could have a voice channel as well.
I’ve been looking for a good history discord and the content here is the best of its kind I must say!
I’d like to see a Discord for this set up as well. We used to have one long ago, actually.

Trying to keep it simple I have called it Historians In The Present Discussing The Past (HITPDTP) following on from the language used in the community rules here.
There is only one text channel and one voice channel also to keep it simple. Obviously, it is set up assuming everyone is sensible enough to understand what it is for.
I have found discord amazing for real time chats and very much hope to have and bear witness to good discussions with everyone here that might pop in to say hi!
Let me know if anything should be changed for a better name/picture/settings/etc. And obviously if a real one gets set up I’ll take this one down. Just thought it’s better to have something than nothing.
