Russian casualties top 12 million

PARIS, France (UP) – One Red Army general was disclosed today to have given a “purely personal estimate” that Russian casualties during the war were between 12 and 15 million, about half of whom he believed were civilians.

How?? Did he guess? Will Stalin have him shot? So many questions.
