ROOSEVELT’S TRIP TO BE KEPT SECRET

Washington, Aug. 2 (UP) –
White House Secretary Stephen T. Early said today that the public will not be kept informed on details of President Roosevelt’s vacation cruiser off the New England coast.

Mr. Roosevelt will make the cruiser aboard the Presidential yacht Potomac, and “the movement of the ship will be a confidential naval operation” from the time it leaves New London, Conn., tomorrow, until it returns.

Mr. Early said the President will cruise on a day-to-day basis and will be ready to return to Washington at any time should new developments in the tense international situation warrant. The President’s special train will be held at New London ready to bring him back on short notice.
