Rice in Italy 1943?

In the last episode Mr.Musso could only eat milk and rice after the demise of his neo-Roman African Empire.

Were there rice-paddies in Italy :it: or anywhere close to it?

PS Remember Parker Lewis?

Surprisingly enough, yes! As far back as 1468 (documented, anyway), and in several varieties, including varieties created by selection by the Italians themselves.

There was a drop in rice production in Italy during the war, but it was still more rice than the US produced. That remained true until the late 1960s.

Today, Italy produces more rice than any other European country. About half of its 1.3 million tons is exported into Europe.

Many thanks, cool. PS I found this on the Patreon vid which was released today.

Only eating milk and rice because of stress sounds a bit odd to me, anyways.
