PONTIFF WARNS GIRLS OF IMMODEST STYLES

Vatican City, May 22 (UP) –
Pope Pius XII warned 4,000 Catholic Action girls gathered in the Hall of Benediction today that, with the approach of summer, they must guard against indecent styles.

Apparently referring to abbreviated shorts and bathing suits, the Pope said:

You must combat the evil customs in the fields of sports, hygiene, amusements and styles. You must free yourselves from the tyranny of styles.

Styles are not evil, and God does not ask anyone to live outside the modern world, but the vice in fashions which the Church condemns is the extremist tendencies.

You must wear sane, honest apparel at all times.
