Patton estate willed to immediate family

LOS ANGELES (AP) – The will of Gen. George S. Patton, Third Army commander, who died last December 21 after an automobile accident in Germany, was admitted to probate yesterday, and an attorney for the estate said Gen. Patton’s Southern California property probably will be worth from $223,000 to $250,000.

Principal beneficiaries are his widow, Mrs. Beatrice Ayer Patton, now living at Green Meadows, South Hamilton, Massachusetts, and his children, Mrs. Beatrice F. Waters and Mrs. Ruth Ellen Totten, both of Washington. and George S. Patton III, a West Point cadet.

Real estate is to be divided among the children and Mrs. Patton is to receive personal property, valued at $90,000, including “all horses, carriages, harness, automobiles, household furniture and jewelry.”

Gen. Patton’s sister, Miss Anne W. Patton of San Marino, California, and the widow’s brother, Frederick Ayer, were named executors of the estate. Attorney Elmo H. Conley said he was informed a trust fund had been set up by Gen. Patton in the East for the three children, but that he did not know the details.
