In other words, when ww2 tactics fail, use ww1 tactics.

Montgomery knew well that Britain would find it hard to stomach another defeat at the hands of the Germans. So he planned to fight the battle on his terms, not Rommels - he knew the Germans were consistently better at mobile warfare.
