Pakistan in world war Two

I know modern day pakistan was part of the british raj, but did the pakistanis contribute much to the war effort?

Total war involved the entire subcontinent, but ‘martial races’ were prized for their military service, as reflected in the majority of Victoria Crosses being awarded to these groups. These were primarily found in the North West of the Raj, on (and indeed beyond) the frontier, and especially the Punjab.

Iran was invaded by Britain and Russia in 1941 and the British borders were occupied Iraq and of course Pakistan, but I’m not sure from which geographical direction the operation progressed.
