Wieder ist ein Jahr schweren Ringens um Deutschlands Freiheit, Größe und Ehre abgelaufen. In diesem harten Kriegsjahr hat unser ganzes Volk Beispiele bewundernswerter Tapferkeit, Treue und Bewährung gegeben. Front und Heimat sind wahrhaft über sich selbst hinausgewachsen. Sie hielten ungeachtet bitterer Opfer, vieler Sorgen und Nöte im gläubigen Blick zum Führer und in heiliger Liebe zum Vaterland allen Prüfungen des Schicksals mit starkem Herzen stand.

Ihr, meine Kameraden, habt in diesen Kämpfen zu jeder Stunde die stolze, ruhmbedeckte Fahne der Luftwaffe hochgehalten. Nehmt hierfür meinen Dank und meine volle Anerkennung, ihr tapferen Frontsoldaten und ihr braven Ausbilder in der Heimat, aber auch ihr jungen Luftwaffenhelfer und ihr Frauen auf eurem verantwortungsvollen Posten. Ich weiß, ihr werdet mein Vertrauen in euren Mut und euren fanatischen Pflichteifer niemals enttäuschen. Denn unser Leben gilt als heiliges Vermächtnis der gefallenen Helden nur einem Gedanken: Deutschland.

So schreiten wir im Bewußtsein der gewaltigen Kraft des Reiches, erfüllt von unerschütterlicher Zuversicht und getragen von hoher Verantwortung für die Kulturwelt eines ganzen Erdteils, in das neue Jahr. Der Weg liegt klar vor uns. Es geht um Sieg oder Untergang.

Möge der Herrgott unsere Waffen segnen wie bisher. Es lebe Adolf Hitler!

Another year of hard struggle for Germany’s freedom, greatness and honor has passed. In this hard year of war, our entire nation has given examples of admirable bravery, loyalty and courage. The front and the homeland have truly risen above themselves. Despite bitter sacrifices, many sorrows and hardships, they withstood all the trials of fate with a strong heart, looking to the Führer with faith and with a holy love for the Fatherland.

You, my comrades, have held high the proud, glory-covered flag of the Luftwaffe at every hour during these battles. Take for this my thanks and full appreciation, you brave front-line soldiers and you good instructors at home, but also you young Luftwaffe helpers and you women on your responsible post. I know you will never disappoint my confidence in your courage and your fanatical zeal for duty. For our lives, as the sacred legacy of the fallen heroes, are dedicated to only one thought: Germany.

Thus, aware of the mighty power of the Reich, filled with unshakable confidence and carried by high responsibility for the cultural world of an entire continent, we stride into the new year. The way lies clearly before us. It is a matter of victory or downfall.

May the Lord God bless our weapons as before. Long live Adolf Hitler!
