Debunking popular myths is a difficult task indeed. Back before the internet came along, I’d occasionally hear arguments that the Norden bombsight was the true war-winner due to its insane accuracy. I don’t recall falling for that argument, but more due to my stubborn anti-American feelings at the time (just at the end of the Vietnam War) than any juvenile insights into the technical mysteries of high-level bombing.
