NEGRO FLYING UNITS PLANNED BY ARMY
Washington, Oct. 15 (UP) –
The War Department said today that the Army Air Corps, under a new policy, plans to set up Negro aviation units as soon as the necessary personnel can be obtained.
The number of Negro aviation units as well as other Negro units will be determined on the ratio of Negro population in the United States. Each major branch of the service will contain Negro units – combatant as well as non-combatants.
The War Department said that the standing policy of separating Negro and white enlisted personnel would be maintained.
