The Polish government announced today that the Germans had begun the mass murder of Poles in gas chambers at Oświęcim.
Among those in danger of elimination were said to be 12,400 civilians who had been driven from Warsaw to Oświęcim.
Many thousands of others from Warsaw were reported left without food or shelter while many between the ages of 16 and 40 were deported to Germany.
