MINIMUM PHYSICAL STANDARDS LISTED

Here are the minimum physical requirements for men subject to the draft to enter CLASS 1-A – available for general military service:

Eyes – Normal vision and persons with 20-100 – that is, able to read the 100-foot card line at 20 feet if correctable with glasses to 20-40 on both sides with glasses.
Hearing – Able to hear normal low conversation at 20 feet or able to hear, in each ear, the same sound at 10 feet.
Teeth – Three lower and three upper biting teeth which meet and three upper and three lower chewing teeth that meet. Natural teeth include those which may be restored by filling or have suitable crowns, if the roots are firm.
Feet – While distinctions are made for various deformities, the requirements are summarized in a general conclusion which provides A-1 classification for men whose defects are such that they will not disqualify him for general military service.
