Mikhailovitch reported captured by Tito
LONDON (UP) – The Swiss radio said tonight that the Yugoslav Army has arrested Gen. Draga Mikhailovitch, one-time war minster to former King Peter and regarded by Marshal Tito as Yugoslavia’s No. 1 traitor.
The broadcast, which attributed its information to a Belgrade dispatch, was recorded by Exchange Telegraph.
After the German occupation of Yugoslavia, Mikhailovitch reorganized the scattered Yugoslav Royal Army and former Chetnik bandit bands. For a time he was acclaimed as a patriot hero and was supported by the British until 1944.
Evidence introduced at the Nuernberg war crimes trial by the Yugoslav commission, however, charged that Mikhailovitch – with the knowledge of King Peter – had made a deal with Nazi puppet Premier Gen. Milan Nedich to fight alongside German forces against Tito’s partisans.
