Today is the opening of the European Liberation Route which encompasses a Europe wide routesystem of commemoration. A LOT of work went into this.
Might be interesting for a lot of us here.

Here is the site with tons of info. It only covers part of Europe and e.g. not the landing in Southern France or Sicily etc. OK but it is a good start, there are a few others routes like the Route de liberation from the 1950s which runs from Utah Beach to Bastogne on mostly smaller roads. (Writing this from memory so I might miss some details).
