Korean War Movies

Does anyone have any recommendations for movies to watch over the next three years? I’m familiar with Pork Chop Hill and M.A.S.H, but not too sure about any of the others. I tried to find a listing online with the movies in some sort of order as they occurred, but didn’t have any luck.

MASH, despite being set in the Korean War, is really much more a commentary on the Vietnam War, with many 1960s/70s social issues being back-ported to the early 1950s for comedic or social commentary reasons. I wouldn’t want to depend on it for accuracy.

I stronlgy recommend to watch korean war movies

From the Korean perspective and not just UN forces.

One such movie is called “The Frontline” which i personally thought was absolutely incredible

Its from the south Korean perspectives(although there are North Korean character’s youll see)

Its dramatic. Its cinematic. Its purely Korean. The only Americans you see are some F-51s that fly over

You only see the Chinese in one scene. But its an absolute awe scene.(when they first encounter the PLA and their absolutely insanely large numbers, a really great "o…o holy SHIT moment)

Another one thats famous is Tae Guk-Gi.

I haven’t seen it myself but its been widely recommended to me by many Koreans.

Its a sad story that im inclined to believe will bring you to tears. As its about two Korean brothers who are reluctantly drafted

But

Into opposing sides(one drafted into the ROK army and the other the KPA)

Mash is also set kn Uijeongbu. A city ive been many times. A very nice city! If you still want a city but find Seoul too overwhelming. Uijeongbu is a great alternative

Also got my surgery there when i snapped my arm like a tree branch bench pressing(dont worry, fill recovery, still lift to this day too)
