Kokoda Track victory

Hi Indy,

Can you please do an episode on the Kokoda Track.

It was the first defeat of Japan in a land battle in WW2.

It was achieved by Australian conscripts, who where only allowed to be deployed on Australian soil. Because Papua New Guinea was a colony, the conscripts were deployed there.

The conditions were hellish. The men looked like a rabble at the end.

When Macarthur and the Australian head of army, Blamey, came after the victory, they criticised the conscripts.

In fact, the conscripts had achieved a great victory, a first for WW2.

Thanks,
Ricardo
