King Tiger all you wanted to know about it in a presentation by the German Tank Museum

Hi,
I know it is a bit earlier but than again the King Tiger was thought up earlier but could not be built at that point. When it was built at the end of the war about 2/3s of the production was lost because of the bomber offensive. In essence the King Tiger was built for a “blitzkrieg” at a time were massive tank formations were not a thing anymore and were it had to “hide” from aircraft , pinpoint artillery strikes and was to obese a cat :scream_cat: for a lot of bridges

The presentation is in German but the autosubtitles do a reasonably good job.

PS The German Tank museum in Munster a lot of reliable information.(make sure you go to the right Munster if you drive there as Germany has more than one. Not sure if this is some kind of “Spies and Ties” secrecy effort. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:@Astrid

I am not sure if other Countries have these “part work magazines”. Were you can by magazine with a few modeling parts and then have to by 120 more to complete the tank. I never bothered as I don’t have the patience.

Ralf Raths, the historian from the DPM German tank museum has a great very detailed evaluation. It seems these magazines with their purely positive notes on the King Tiger and lots of errors.

But then again in 120 weeks and about 1500 Euros you would end up with a Radio Controlled model. Kinda price unless it is 1:1 size!

By the way if you search on " Papierkrieg Folge xx" with xx being a number you will get book reviews on tanks. Also of English language books. All the way up to modern wars (e.g. Kurds vs ISIS)
