The battle Tarawa and Makin Atoll was really vicious and teams from JDOD and history flight (Mark Noah)are still working on recovering fallen US and Japanese servicemen.
With the number of dead passing every week I find it poignant to see how the 3 day incredibly vicious battle impacted The US.
Having personally met the family of MOH awarded Lt. Bonneyman and Seen the work made me realize how hard it was for the families of the MIA’s. They had no grave to go to and uncertainty about the last moments. Also that the Islands 
looks like a bounty/mars bar commercial but was straight hell and still has very little facilities for visitors. Those organization do great difficult work.
