Jo Indy, Sparty and Team. I heard that Stalin also had plans to break the MR pact and attack Germany in (I think) 1942. Is this true and if yes what were Stalins motivations and goals with such an invasion?

P.S. I know there exist a preemptive strike thesis regarding soviet attack plans which already has been debunked.

P.P.S May the force be with you, love your awesome work 3000!

Obviously, something like that was Stalin’s plan in 1939 when Stalin expected Germany on one side and France and Britain on the other side to exhaust each other (like Japan and China) with the Soviet Union benefitting and conquering Europe in the end. But after the fall of France Stalin was afraid for a war with Germany. I have read about that in the book ‘Stalin, waiting for Hitler’ by Stephen Kotkin.
