Italian declaration of war

On this day 79 years ago Italy declares war, here’s Mussolini addressing the crowd with english subtitles for those interested.

I have colorized a photo of it. Also, with a better transcript.

I’ve modified the original post with another video containing a better translation.

This was actually interesting to watch, I’ve watched a million Hitler speeches but to no understanding of German — understanding some Italian certainly makes a difference to me.

Nevertheless, maybe it’s just a bunch of guesses, but I’m trying to think of the differences with Hitler’s average style of speech. Mussolini seems much more stiff, and what I find most fascinating, is the tempo with the public. Hitler is never interrupted, while Mussolini seems almost impatience to get his turn with all that euphoric and screaming public.

Any thoughts?
