Is it really bad to colorize WW2 archives (both movies and pictures)?

Hello, I ask by curiosity to see you guys point of view on this. I’ve seen people criticizing apocalypse when they did it. To me, colorizing images is not a problem and I don’t see how it “falsifie” the film.

I personally have no issue colourizing the historical footage since it really can make it pop. Coloured cameras were a thing in WW2, the initial flag raising on Iwo Jima was filmed in colour. (The cameras were just really expensive). The only time I take issue with colourizing film is when it applies to actual movies since certain movies are enhanced by black and white as a style choice. (Casablanca would look terrible in colour and I know because they did it in the 80’s.) But as far as documentary footage I think it’s fine and can make some shots pop more, like telling the difference between blood and mud.
