Irish contribution to allied industry in WWII

The latest OOTF discussed the Irish contribution to the combat in WWII.
What was the Irish contribution to allied industry in WWII, and the effects on the Irish economy?

As Ireland was neutral they could not help with allied war production as then they would no longer be neutral. They may of indirectly helped but officially they did not help.

Also Irish sentiment at the time was decidedly hostile towards the British as the Easter uprising was still fresh with the Irish.

Many Irish men and women left to work in the British war industry.

Ireland (Eire) was largely reliant on the British at time for most goods either directly or through the protection of imports.

The majority of industry on the island was located in the North and this played a key role in the UK’s wider war production. Harland and Wolff for example built six aircraft carriers, two cruisers and 131 other naval ships; and repairing over 22,000 vessels. It also manufactured components. It was in this period that the company’s workforce peaked at around 35,000 people

Irish (as opposed to Northern Irish) industry was pretty minimal back then. However, a lot of Irish men went to the UK to work, as wages were much, much higher. Have a relevant song:
