Before the war, Germany had trained and equipped the Kuomintang troops with German helmets and weapons. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, one of these outfits was held back during several engagements by Chaing Kai-Shek as they were considered the elite of the Nationalist Army. The Sino-German cooperation lasted from 1926 to 1941. Germany had also sold planes to China. Before the fall of Nanking, there were plans for Germany to mediate peace between China and Japan, and in 1938 all advisors were formally withdrawn. Elements from both sides wanted to continue cooperation, although diplomatic relations remained until December 9 when China formally joined the Allies. Because the German government had fully recognized the Japanese puppet government of Nanking, China then declared war. Many Kuomintang officers received their training in Germany and followed German tactics.

First of all: a warm welcome to the Timeghost Army my fellow friend :hugs::partying_face:
Your question is very valid and interesting.
Germany had many covert and strange diplomatic relations. Even already during the Weimar republic… German tanks were developed in the Soviet Union, for example.
So, I think you started a very interesting topic, and I salute you for that! :+1:
