This is an often talked about subject in Indy’s weekly series but little coverage per se of how each side treated their respective POWs. I have read some material but it is a subject that isn’t well covered by many books I’ve read.
I know for the most part the UN forces abided by the Geneva Convention but with the sheer amount of POWs they had who ended up guarding them and were the ROK less than accommodating to treating Chinese and North Korean POWs within the confines of the Geneva Convention?
It is my understanding that UN POWs faced harsh treatment and were rarely afforded Geneva Convention treatment. What were living conditions for them like and how were the wounded treated. Was torture a common method used by the Chinese and North Korean captors?
