How do you read the symbols on the battle maps used in the series?

I love the series, but I have a hard time deciphering what the symbols are when describing which unit is doing what. As a totally random (and probably meaningless) example: “The 17th Tank battalion of the 6th Army along with the 4th Grenadiers and elements of the 8th Army’s 16th Motorized Cavalry were able to advance 15 kilometers during the day.” Now, what combination of squares with “X’s” and numbers on them would be used to visually demonstrate that sentence?

The X are NATO symbols to denote a brigade, division and so on. More the X’s the higher they are in strength (and importance).

Here a pdf i found that tells about what X means.

Thank you SO much! Just knowing what the number of “X”'s on a symbol means will help me have a better idea of what’s happening on the ground, day by day.
