How did the Germans treat war monuments in occupied territory?

I can imagine war monuments to the French and British soldiers of the Great War were demolished, but what about monuments to the battle of Waterloo for instance?

Actually not; the Germans didn’t generally desecrate foreign memorials. The dead of previous wars were respected. Hitler’s only usurpation of a memorial was the Compiegne Wagon in Paris, for the French surrender.

I don’t have a list and Nazi Germany didn’t exist long enough to completely rewrite history and Nazify Europe. But in any case they had no problem with destroying this monument which is pretty miserable behaviour.
