How did the Germans know so much about downed American pilots?

As shown in “Masters of the Air”, the German interrogators knew a lot about downed American pilots. I know we didn’t practice OPSEC back then and a lot of information was published in newspapers. So, gathering information is relatively easy, but it’s a big effort to collect that information on all the fliers. How was that information then transmitted to Germany and who was doing it?
