How big of an impact did the Black Sheep and other such units have in China

If no American pilots or supplies had gone to China to help them fight Japan would Japan have had more success there and would China have still become a Communist country? Thanks. Love your channels

The Black Sheep Squadron VMA-214 was a US Marine Corps unit stationed in the South Pacific under the command most famously by Lt.Col Pappy Boyington. He had served in the American Volunteer Group (AVG) in China but the units were not connected otherwise. See https://www.warhistoryonline.com/guest-bloggers/black-sheep-squadron-color.html For a good summary of the USMC unit.
The 1st AVG or Flying Tigers were a unit of volunteers/ mercenaries who flew for the Chinese before the US’s entry into WWII. See https://www.warhistoryonline.com/?s=flying+tigers

It is worth adding that the AVG didn’t fly it’s first combat mission under 20 December 1941 - several days after the US entered the war.

But as to impact, it was minimal. The key word is Group, meaning that they were on average composed of 36 aircraft.
