Hi, Knowing that Khalid ibn al walid was one of the best if not the best General of all times ( 100% ratio victory for more than 75 battles ) do you think he would have been able the push back Gengis khan if he was here at that time?

I searched a lot about Khalid ibn al walid and watched most of his battles, personnally i think the answer is yes but I still have doubts because Gengis was also very powerful…
What do u think guys ?

Well, Khalid never had anywhere near the number of troops as the Mongols did. Also, the Mongols on a tactical level were some of the best in the world at the time. I’m not sure if even a genius like Khalid could have stood up to the Mongols, even with even-up numbers of Islamic troops of the day.

@xfilesfc Yes I was meaning with the same number of troops, its true that there was a long time between mongol invasions and rashidun Caliphate, but where the tactics of the 7th century outdated during that time ?

It might surprise you, but in this case I have no idea.

Certainly the recurve bows of the Mongols were better developed, they had stirrups, better steel. But beyond that, I’ll wait for someone with more smarts than me to answer.
