HERSHOLT CONVINCED F.R. WON’T SEEK FOURTH TERM

New York, Feb. 11 (UP) –
Jean Hersholt, the movie actor, said today that he was positive President Roosevelt would not throw his hat in the ring for a fourth term. The reason is that Hersholt has the battered felt hat the President had worn in three campaigns. He was given it by Mr. Roosevelt to raffle for the benefit of the motion picture relief fund.

Hersholt said the President remarked that he had used it three times and was through with it.

Maybe we should have a thread for Ironic statements like this.

Hersholt’s reasoning was pretty silly, to put it kindly. And I’m not even a Roosevelt supporter.
